SD Innovation research finds new opportunities and methods for tackling difficult problems involving strategy, policy and tactics across all sustainable development issues. James is available to conduct small research projects independently and also to join teams with ambitious and innovative projects. Previous work has ranged from identifying new scrap wood markets for a local authority, to design of an economic instrument for major global problems. More information.

Training
James specialises in participative methods which can be replicated throughout organisations and communities of any size. By combining advanced sustainability frameworks and ideas from participants it is possible to cut out much of the usual information content and to generate creative and large-scale learning much faster. James is available to appraise, design or deliver training programmes involving strategy, policy and tactics across all sustainable development issues. Previous clients include local and national businesses, and international NGOs.

Appraisal
James has a graduate engineering background and a detective's mind, allowing him to appraise technical and non-technical documents and projects with exceptional rigour and creativity. James is able to analyse and assess both from within conventional frameworks and also within alternative frameworks. James is available for desk-based or team-based appraisal of strategy, policy and tactics across all sustainable development issues. Previous work includes; combining appraisal and training for university departments to self-appraise, appraisal of local authority waste strategy, and appraisal of opportunities for a multinational white goods manufacturer.
